Three charged in Doyle murder in Palos area

Gregory Jackson 21 of Country Club Hills Antwon Tyler 22 of Chicago and Marcus Gray 16 of Chicago are charged with one count each of first degree murder and attempted armed robbery in the July 3 shooting death of Sheilah Doyle in Palos Township. Doyle was found dead in the trunk of her car early July 4. The trio appeared at a bond hearing in Bridgeview as prosecutors outlined prior criminal histories. Jackson is a student at Eastern Illinois University with disputed fraternity ties later denied by university sources.

Four area youths travel to Washington for King assembly

Eighteen youths including four from the South Suburbs travel to Washington for the sixth annual I Have a Dream National Youth Assembly. Sponsored by the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday Commission and USDA 4-H, the conference teaches nonviolent activism and culminates in a 30th anniversary March on Washington. Chicago youths, homeless teens from shelters, and four escorts join the event coordinated by Nick Jefferson.
