United Way shares $286000 for 22 agencies in Park Forest area
Park Forest Richton Park United Way will allocate 286219 to 22 agencies this year, down from 1992 across Chicago area due to lower donations. Campaign head J Ron McLeod led a stronger local result, with Ray Van Dyke praising continued support for vital services. Funds distributed by United Way of Suburban Chicago include Aunt Martha's Youth Center 20000 and South Suburban Family Shelter 11019 among others.

Prairie State College in Chicago Heights will launch Project Opportunities to aid welfare mothers with education and job readiness. The plan, to provide child care, transportation, and books while counseling into classes, aims to enroll about 300 students and may use Pell grants for tuition.
