Peotone airport hearings draw residents and officials
Series of public meetings in East Hazel Crest Manteno Beecher and nearby Will County reveal the Illinois plan to build a third regional airport at Peotone. Officials say about 1 200 residents near the site could face relocation while stressing compensation rights and property acquisition procedures. Some landowners oppose the project citing impacts and questioning data while others acknowledge potential jobs and growth. Airport officials plan additional sessions to address concerns and outline the process.
