SSC to Expand Oak Forest Center with 18 New Classrooms
South Suburban College trustees approve a 2.8 million renovation of the University and College Center at 16333 S Kilbourn Ave to double its size from 25 000 to 75 000 square feet by January. The project adds 18 classrooms offices and labs with part of the space allocated to DePaul University and potential future courses from Governors State University Chicago State University University of St Francis and Olivet Nazarene College. The college issues a 7.8 million bond to fund the work and retire about 900k in debt with 3 million for upgrades and technology. Tuition rises by 1 per credit hour to 51 for fall but may revert later with added enrollment expected to reach about 2 000 students at the Oak Forest facility.

Cook County Sheriff Michael Sheahan announced posting on the Internet the names and addresses of more than 500 convicted child sex offenders residing in suburban and unincorporated Cook County. State Rep. Thomas Dart supported strengthening the offender registry and cautioned parents to use the Web site to check who lives or works in their communities.
