Labor Day Festival Plans Set in Park Forest
Park Forest Jaycees announced the fifth annual Labor Day festival to run Labor Day weekend in Central Park with about 45 organizations. Events begin Sept 2 at 2 p.m. with a donkey softball game between Jaycees and village trustees, plus a head to head donkey race featuring Village President Singerman and Jaycee President Sheppard. Donkey softball features players and Bob Crosby’s donkeys, framed as family entertainment.

Augustfest Preparations Near End at Matteson Park
The Matteson Lions club prepares for Augustfest at Memorial Park on Saturday with a 3 p.m. opening featuring Rich Poncin s sightless softball team against Lions members. After the game attendees can try blindfolded batting and fielding. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. and runs to 8 p.m. with hamburgers hot dogs chips corn milk shakes beer and mixed drinks. A five piece orchestra plays dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight. The Matteson Historical Society sells popcorn sno cones prints and notepaper of local buildings. Park benches and tables will be available. attendees should bring their own tables chairs and service.
