Teachers contract delays new budget for District 227
Rich Township High School District 227 passed a tentative 1998-99 budget while teacher salary negotiations continue. Assistant Superintendent Harold Huang said no target date was set for finishing talks and noted three meetings are planned this month. The budget runs July 1 1998 to June 30 1999 and is balanced thanks to a March referendum boosting the tax rate from 1.87 to 2.67 per 100 of assessed value. A $100 000 home would pay about $50 more yearly, though residents will not be affected.
