Officials from Matteson and Frankfort voiced worries to Cook County Zoning Board over a petition to rezone unincorporated Lincoln Highway property between the towns for a used car lot. They warned development plans could be disrupted and urged a formal objection within 30 days.
Frankfort planning staff oppose a proposal moving east along Lincoln Highway citing conflicts with the Comprehensive Plan. Board Chairman Seith says timing could hinder residential development on the site. Leith notes 900 acres around Juccie’s property owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago and cites high traffic Willow Road homes in Cook County.
The Interstated Corridor Planning Council, a non profit group including Cook Will and Kankakee counties, unveiled an 18 month work plan at a Richton Park Chamber breakfast. Led by Rudolph Banovich and David Niemeyer, the council will develop land use, funding, boundaries, environmental, transport, and airport impact strategies for communities along I 57 from Interstate 80 to the south border of Kankakee County.
