Red Cross trainee aids Oklahoma City recovery efforts
Jessica Landeros, a 22 year old disaster public information officer for the American Red Cross, arrived April 22 in Oklahoma City and works from headquarters two miles from the Murrah Building site. She coordinates information for survivors families and media while assisting with shelter food and clothing distribution and funerals. More than 250 families are homeless and about 3,000 volunteers assist on site as donations exceed 5 million. Landeros plans to return to Chicago next week and resume ordinary life, while remaining reachable by cellular phone.
