Cropping Hunger Crop Walk supports local pantry
Participants left Calvary United Protestant Church Sunday for a 10K Crop Walk. Twenty-five percent of funds aid Rich Township Food Pantry Jones Community Center and local hunger agencies. Remaining proceeds help Church World Service hunger programs. Public rests featured Forest Trail Junior High and Prairie State Jazz bands plus youth choir and church clown works. Richton Park promotes two firefighters and swears in officer
Richton Park Village Board welcomed Lt. Maureen Caverly and Lt. John Reposa, plus Patrolman Matthew Young. Caverly, 14 years with the fire department and first female member, now serves as assistant EMS coordinator. her husband Al Caverly was named fire captain. Reposa, 18 years with the fire department, has led rescue efforts in a January fire. Young, 25, joined after training at the Illinois Police Academy, with prior dispatching duties and degrees in law enforcement and public administration. The board also approved switching auditing firms, hiring Pandolfi Topolski Weiss & Co. effective April 30.
