Mayors group scorns plan criticising airport sprawl
The South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association on Thursday unanimously refused to endorse the Citizen Transportation Plan for Northwestern Illinois citing opposition to a third regional airport, I 355 extension, and other southern suburban facilities. They urged balanced growth and added an interchange at I 57 and 183rd Street to their priorities. The decision followed discussion of regional needs and the plan developed by the Chicagoland Transportation and Air Quality Commission.
