Conservators restore Otis family tree 1905 relics
A family in Marengo entrusts the Otis eight generation tree from 1657 to Graphic Conservation for treatment. The fragile 3% foot square document, stored for decades, will be water washed to loosen acids and stabilized with Japanese tissue. Conservators avoid bleaching and aim to preserve character, noting tapes and folds have damaged text and that some names may be obscured.
