Fire guts upper story in Woodgate
A tri level home in Matteson’s Woodgate subdivision was gutted on Friday morning as a fire swept the upper story. Two toddlers were treated for minor smoke inhalation after a four year old dropped a lighter in an upstairs bedroom. The house, valued at about 70,000, suffered roughly 30,000 in damage and is uninhabitable. The incident occurred at 47 Willow and was contained by 14 firefighters on three engines and a snorkel, with the family seeking relative shelter afterward.

Two Chicago Area Lace guild members will host a lace making program at Mattexon Public Library at 7 30 pm Wednesday. The event titled Bob Lace What It Is And How It Is Done will demo basic bobbin lace stitchery. Equipment will be provided for a fence participation. Board meeting seeks parent forum on grade reorganization plan
