Richmond seeks railroad to Tidewater amid regional rivalries
An unsigned reminiscence argues for a Chesapeake Bay Railway tapping the Northern Neck from Richmond to Tidewater. It questions plans to run a line from Rich mond toward Fredericksburg, notes potential commerce gains, and warns the proposed route may favor a local business interest over broader regional benefit. The piece contends a more northern terminus could boost trade across the Rappahannock and York rivers while criticizing secrecy and influence in road proposals.
