Federal Court commissioners at Hampton sold the Hampton and Phobus Gas properties owned by the Public Service Corporation of Virginia. George A. They traveled from Charlottesville to Columbia via Rivanna River and James River with three dams requiring portage. On the James they abandoned portage and rode rapids despite heavy water.
