Mock treatises featured biblical figures as officers and parties, including “The Cause of Satan With the Holy Virgin” and “Lucifer vs. Jesus.” Later, 1500 Martial Daurgvine produced playful legal texts about Cupid’s court with cases such as lovers wooing a game lady, a kiss dispute, and a quail cage suit.
