William Sonner, a young farmer, died at his home near Stephen City from a gunshot wound received while inspecting a gun held by a young Italian laborer named Dominaco. The weapon discharged hitting Sonner's left leg. doctors amputated but he died. He leaves a widow and one child.
The Health Department opened two dispensaries for free tuberculosis care with seven physicians and a nurse corps at each site. The program, funded by city appropriation, targets advanced TB and early kidney ailments recognized as consumption in its incipiency.
