Hearst News from Cleveland reports a massive fire at North Collingwood School. About 75 to 150 children die as inward doors jam and panic traps youths on the third floor. Rescue efforts fraught with chaos as parents, teachers, and firemen struggle amid brutal scenes.
Annapolis March 4 Unopposed opposition to a bill requiring medical examination for all persons practicing healing has stirred debate as Christian Scientists push to defeat it. The Corrupt Practices Act passed the House with amendments from a Democratic caucus and heads to the Senate. A joint resolution to make Maryland a party to coal-rate concerns also moved favorably. Judges pay bill was defeated after tense debate, with Allegany delegation split on local option timing. Pre-Lenten notes mention a dinner and bridge at 415 Washington Street hosted by Elizabeth Hutson and a German lesson by Prof Daisy.
In Davis West Virginia on March 4 a ferocious wolf attacked Mayor W E Weimer in his barn, injuring his arms and hand. Columbus March 4 Republicans of Ohio at a state convention removed nearly all backers of Senators Foraker and Dick from the state central committee. Eleven of twenty one were re elected seven were Foraker men, while three not re elected favored Taft. Walter F Brown was re elected chairman and Malcolm Karshner secretary. The platform endorses railway rate legislation praised by Foraker.
Mrs. Margaret J. Gleichman aged 79 died last night at her son Charles H Gleichman’s home 7 Emily street after a period of illness. Widow of John S Gleichman who died in 1880 she leaves two sons Samuel A Gleichman and Charles H Gleichman and daughter Mary D Gleichman. A German immigrant from Kuhelmbach she settled in the city long ago and was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church. Funeral will be Thursday at 2 30 pm from the residence with services there and burial in Rose Hill cemetery.
Cumberland Tent No 100 Order of Maccabees held a smoker in their lodge rooms on North Mechanic street Morehead, with a large turnout from the order. Several members delivered speeches during the evening.

Washington March Secretary of Commerce and Labor issued a sweeping directive to immigration officials to cooperate with police to identify and deport anarchists and criminals under the immigration act of February 20 1907. The order directs conferences with police or Secret Service to obtain precise information and define the term anarchist as used in law and detail powers and limits on immigration officials.
One of the largest local funerals in years followed the burial of Richard Bender at SS Peter and Paul’s Church this morning at o o clock. Rev Father Peter officiated as many out of town mourners attended the service and funeral procession through the city.
Large crowds gathered to pay last respects to the deceased. Floral arrangements were numerous and fine. Attendees from Hollidaysburg Pennsylvania included Albert and Joseph Bender. Scbry and two sons from Johnstown and Mr. and Mrs. Riegel of Altoona also attended. Pallbearers named were Geo Kean Claude Robinson John Mertens Daniel Kean George Glick and James McHenry. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mr Bender died last Saturday evening at his Green street residence. He was a well known Cumberland resident with many local friends.
