Nine-Year-Old Gilbert Shaffer Accused of Horse Theft
Annapolis Maryland July 18 nine year old Gilbert Shaffer whose parents are dead and who has been living near Davidsonville was arrested today as a horse thief. He allegedly entered Mr Marriott s pasture near Davidsonville and rode off with his best horse. The boy allegedly rode the horse to Annapolis and offered it for sale to Mr Gaither a baggage agent for 40 dollars. Marriott will not prosecute but it is thought he will be sent to a reformatory.
