Joseph Thomas Pioneer Citizen Dies in Marshfield
Joseph Thomas a Marshfield pioneer died Wednesday night at St Joseph's hospital after a long illness from Bright's disease and kidney troubles. He was nearly 79, born in Prussia in 1837, came to New York in 1845, settled in Addison Wisconsin, married Lena Kopf in 1862, moved to Marshfield in 1884, built the hotel at Central and Depot, later operated as Hotel Juneni, and had extensive lumber and brokerage interests. Survived by widow Lena, five daughters and six sons, fifteen grandchildren, a brother Anton of Elcho, and many relatives. Funeral held Saturday at St John’s Catholic church with high mass. interment at Hillside.
