Upham Logging to Open Big Season Near Athens and Medford

The Upham Manufacturing Co will dispatch initial crews early next week to build logging roads and prepare the tract bought by former Governor Upham. Crews will expand as clearing progresses, enabling felling and skidding of about 26,000,000 feet of logs this season, with a mill capacity near 20,000,000 feet. The project also brings growth to Lindsey and nearby settlements as real estate moves forward and new shops and an elevator are planned. A saloon-population table notes varying ratios across Wisconsin cities, and Rose Brothers announce a grand fur opening in Marshfield on September 21 with a New York fur representative attending.
