Tramps Loot North Side Dwellings In Week of Break-Ins
A small gang of hungry tramps raided the north side this week. Wednesday night saw five loaves and fruit stolen from D. C. Pickett’s cellar, later devoured in the yard. A burglar also attempted Otto Backhaws’s residence, entering pantry via sash and alarmed by a nurse. Residents keep shotguns ready as more depredations surface. An illustrated lecture by W. Blaine of Grand Rapids, Mich., on his European travels, included sciopticon views and moving war pictures at the M. E. church Tuesday night.
