Tonight the Janens Schubert Symphony Club performs at the Presbyterian church with an all new program. Those who heard them before are urged to attend again and newcomers should not miss this concert. Admission is 25 cents for children and 85 cents for adults, tickets available at Sexton’s.
Those who knew Orrin before his trip and who have seen him since report a younger, better looking man. He visited friends last Friday and Saturday and praised Alaska as the best country if one endures hardships. He traveled about 9000 miles in four months, warns against attempting the journey this season, and echoes Greeley urging bold youths to seek opportunity in the north.
Open season for deer killing runs from November to November 20 in this county. Residents must apply to County Clerk Renne for a deer hunting license, which costs 1.00 for residents and 2.00 for non-residents. Penalties for hunting without a license range from 39.00 to 200.00 or imprisonment up to two months. An affidavit requires the applicant to swear they have not and will not apply in another county during the period. Two coupons authorize transportation of two deer with each license.

August Broker of Lind faces warrants amid sensational claims by preacher Smith and Tilton of personal injury and alleged attempts against a 14 year old daughter. A mob meeting erupts, Broker is told to leave in 24 hours, later given three days to resolve business. The report includes a July incident in which farmers mistake a hot air balloon for a monster, prompting a tense, comic chase.
