Valuation Increase Reported After City Board Review
The city board of review closed the books after a year of work. Real estate values rose to 2 269 190, up 11 880 from 1905, while personal property climbed to 702 041, up 66 405.50. The total valuation reached 2 971 255, versus 2 893 247.30 last year. Assessor Albright noted substantial personal property, including pianos and gold watches, suggesting some taxpayers may have underreported. Fireman Loses Foot In Railroad Yard Accident
Jay Britten, a fireman on a freight run between the city and Fond du Lac, suffered the loss of his right foot Monday afternoon in Northwestern road yards. He slipped from a moving engine step as the drive wheels passed over his foot, was taken to a hotel, then to hospital where the limb was amputated. Britten is a popular railroad man, well known locally.
