The Marshfield Fair ended Friday night after a week of excellent weather and attendance near 1917 records. Gate receipts near $4000 on Thursday suggested about 16 000 attendees with 800 to 1000 varses on the big day. Cattle displays, merchants, and agricultural halls drew crowds as races and stock parades entertained. patriotic addresses and special features highlighted the event amid wartime constraints.

Accident on East 2nd St Crossing Takes Young Life
Edward Otto Leiteritz brakeman on Northwestern railroad dies at St Josephs hospital from injuries after a loose plank struck the footboard at the East Second street crossing. Born November 25 1889 in Bakerville he moved to Marshfield with his parents and married Ruby Franklin in 1915. Survived by wife two children Jerald and Hazel parents and two sisters. Funeral held Sunday at 3 PM with military honors Band Wis State Guards and local Owls. Provost Marshal Crowder says registrants 18 to 45 to be called in October.

Red Cross Carnival on Central Avenue a big financial success

Obituary of Ed Sommeis dies at 83 in Marshfield
Ed Sommeis died at his parents home on West B street Wednesday September 4 after a lingering illness aged 83. He was born in Shawane county October 12, 1885 and moved to Marshfield in 1829 where he resided. He is survived by his parents five brothers and four sisters. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at Immanuel's Lutheran Church with Rev L Thom officiating.
