A Wartime Scheme in a German Valley
During the Franco Prussian War five divisions occupy a valley under General Puffenheim. Two officers scheme to hide their wives in a house near the camp with Fraulein Lena Borngelsser as the decoy. The ruse nearly exposes the plot when the general discovers German women nearby, but orders a halt as division heads toward Paris. The tale ends with the general’s deathless reputation and the officers escaping punishment.
