Fire agency aids halt center store blaze at Kiiner Co

A Monday night fire at Kiiner Lang Scharmann hardware store caused thousands in stock damage and burns to the floor and stringers. Firefighters controlled the blaze in about half an hour despite dense smoke and water damage to the basement. Fireman Charles Moss collapsed from smoke but recovered. no dynamite or other combustibles were on site, underscoring store safety rules.

A group of 15 to 25 young men from Auburndale moved to the third ward ten days before the municipal election to influence alderman E. E. Finney’s bid. Uphams New Office Opens as Modern Building Reaches Completion

Upham Manufacturing completes its new Second Street office building opposite Banner Mills and moves in. The first floor houses general and private offices for E T Ellsworth H A Ely James Vaughn and staff while W H Upham F R Upham E E Finney F R Pallard and Miss Nettie Dickenson have private rooms. The second story serves as an assembly hall and the site is to be landscaped this summer, enhancing town scenery. A new long distance telephone tie in allowing calls to all lines is arranged by Hon J C Marsh with a nominal 25 cent monthly fee per phone.
