An aggravated shooting affray at Arpin last week left James Craney shot in the chin by Albert Pelch. Craney, a seamster and camp worker, had provoked Pelch during a dispute at the bunk. Pelch obtained a revolver, exchanged blows, and fired as Craney advanced. Pelch was arrested but acquitted after a Grand Rapids hearing.

Fire discovered in the St Connor Lumber Co yard at Auburndale Sunday afternoon. Prompt action averted greater loss. East end of yard fuelled by west wind. between fifty and sixty thousand feet of lumber burned. Loss to company about $600. Yard held roughly 3,000,000 feet of lumber plus logs stored for winter. If uncontrolled, Auburndale could have suffered extensive damage to the village.
A small turnout discusses forming a tri county agricultural society at the Driving Park grounds. Chair David Walterbach and Treasurer Sexton report costs to maintain facilities and urge action. Local business leaders show interest as organizers push for a big three day fair to spur farming growth near Marshfield.
The Wisconsin Hardwood and Manufacturer's Association met Tuesday to ratify grade rules drafted by a board. Delegations from several states attended as a committee was formed to appoint a permanent secretary with headquarters at Marshfield, followed by a harmony-filled banquet at the Tremont House and a large attendance list including G A Johnson Marshfield and Edward Lynch St. J Cameron Grand Rapids.
A large fashionable audience gathered at Wie Presbyterian Church for a Tuesday evening concert under church studies. Nellie Gertrude Judd of Minneapolis drew ovations with a flawless performance accompanied by an adept pianist. Mrs. Hopkins opened with a spirited piano solo, and Mrs. Ridsdale delivered strong recitations. The program featured Italian arias and ballads, concluding with Rawe’s Molay selection. Credit goes to Mrs. Lathrop, I. P. Tiffanly, and L. M. Follett for the success of the event.
