A fire in Alma Buffalo County destroyed a dwelling housing Mr and Mrs Oldhouse and their five children. The blaze started from an unattended lamp overnight, and neighbors found seven charred bodies the next morning, with the parents among the deceased.

Next Sunday Rev Branch continues with Esther as subject, with the chorus of thirty voices under BW Pulling guiding a musical program.

Supreme court affirms libel ruling against Barnum

Madison reports the Supreme Court affirmed the Richland Center court’s libel verdict against M. H. Barnum of this city. He owes $200 plus costs, totaling about $300, and faces months in jail if unpaid. Barnum plans to travel to Richland Center with his family to serve jail time rather than pay. He believes his stance is right and will run a newspaper from jail. Barnum has received sympathy from many, including Wausau residents.
