A traveler chronicles a long westward journey from Chicago through Missouri Kansas and Colorado, detailing rain at Kansas City rough daylight traverses, snow and hail through mountains, coal mines and canyon views, and finally reaching Albuquerque then into New Mexico and Arizona. He notes Indian legends, Mexican villages, irrigation, cactus landscapes and a wreck ahead on the line, with heat and desert plains shaping the voyage toward California.
J A Hiland is named General Traffic Manager of the Chicago Saint Paul Minneapolis and Omaha Railway with duties of his predecessor I Clarkes who resigns to join North Western Manufacturing and Car Company WH Pater presiding. W H Truesdale becomes Assistant Traffic Manager at St Paul with office there and A Monroe assists Traffic Manager at Minneapolis PT W Teasdale is General Passenger and Ticket Agent at St Paul FB Whitnes General Agent at Omaha.
