In 1887 Catholic services were held for St John’s Day at the parish church with Mass and cemetery rites noted. W H Upham sought to buy forty acres of Fox river lands via agent Smith of Appleton for industrial use, with a proposed trade of six thousand dollars against sixteen thousand value. Mashfield Milling Co sought to expand and was quoted eight hundred twelve dollars for two lots on West 44th Street near the works.
