Beell Meets Jenkins In Tough Wrestling Bout
Fred Beell returned from the east after wrestling Cleveland heavyweight champion Tom Jenkins for over two hours and forty three minutes. Jenkins won the best two out of three falls, but praised Beell as the strongest opponent he ever lost to his size. About 100 spectators saw the bout.

Crook Weezy Roe Captured by Officer Griffin
Alfred Roe known as Weezy, a burglary suspect, was recaptured by Officer Griffin Tuesday evening. He was returned to Stevens Point for commitment to Waupun where he had previously escaped custody. Roe, from Grand Rapids, had a loaded revolver and cash when seized and implicated accomplices Young and Butterfield in the theft.

Communion Token Identified by Experts as 1774 Relic
A metal token found by Christian Schunk and shown to ex Gov W H Upham was declared a communion token from pioneer days. The 1774 token, valued as a relic, was sent to the state historical society for verification after Maj Upham’s submission and departmental research. Two large real estate deals closed: the Seehafer farm north of the city, 80 acres, sold to Matt Thorn for $5000, and the 127 acre John Eckes farm sold to George Fohl for $7500.
