Humphreys Medicine advertises cures for rheumatic conditions, colds, influenza, pleuro pneumonia, dysentery, pregnancy miscarriage, kidney and bladder disorders, and skin eruptions. Offers "six specific cases" and a book at seven dollars, with mail order from Humphreys Medical Co. New York.
A detailed report by Engineer Rhind on Mobile’s waterworks pumping station reveals serious neglect and mismanagement. The document, presented to the council, cites wasted fuel, reduced output, and partial shutdowns caused by improper maintenance and improper valve operations. The mayor suspended the responsible engineer, then reinstated him pending inquiry, while calls grow for a competent station manager to protect city property and restore proper service.
