Tri County Fair venture eyed by city citizens

Affine Opportunity presents a plan to form an association to operate a tri county fair in the city. The grounds of the old driving park, 30 acres, could be turned into a public fairground with $1500 down and a $2000 mortgage. A corporation with about $5000 capital, sold in 10 shares, would bring in farmers and business leaders to back the project. The plan envisions state aid repayments and racing purses, aiming to create a premier agricultural event in the region. Dr. W W S Powell and local figures back the effort amid enthusiasm for reviving the track and stables.

Extension of Greenwood Line to Bateman Spurs Wisconsin Central

A survey is underway for extending the Greenwood branch toward Bateman with a view to a summer construction start and a completed route before autumn. The plan aims to shorten travel between St Paul and Milwaukee, likely making Muratfield a division end, and may bring new main-line traffic through Chippewa Falls and Fond du Lac. Local hopes place Marshfield as a railway hub, with Northwestern terminals potentially added, speeding through traffic and improving service across the region.
