Model High School Opens Midterm With Broad Courses

The Marshfield High School began its midterm Monday highlighting its wide offerings. 100 pupils enroll in classical, scientific, and English tracks on the university accredited list, with extra sewing, physical culture, and upcoming business and domestic science branches planned. The gymnasium and library are well equipped, and a large literary society meets every second Friday. A debate on railways taxation is ongoing. On January 26 Jacob Goldman, of Bessemer, will marry Mollie Simeon in a ceremony attended by relatives and friends. There is a farm sale near the city cemetery for 5500, and Mrs. Isabel Beener will present The Little Minister at the Armory on January 15 as part of the Elks course.

Woodsman Paralyzed After Falling Tree Hit At Staadt Camp

Charles Six of La Crosse was struck by a falling tree while working at a Staadt area camp Thursday morning. The trunk crushed his spine causing paralyzing injuries to the lower body. He was transported to St. Joseph's hospital and is under Dr Doege care. He is not expected to recover full use and faces possible permanent crippled condition.

Elks Plan Annual Ball After Lent Delayed Date

At the regular lodge meeting on Monday Elks decide to hold the annual ball after Lent with a fine tuned plan for an elaborate society event. Members will keep initiation fees at 15 dollars until March to boost membership before the 25 dollar rate takes effect.

Installation and Ball at the Modern Woodmen Armory

The Modern Woodmen of America at the armory hosted a large installation and ball on Monday evening. The event drew guests from Colby Athens Stratford Lindsey and Nasoaville with Royal Neighbors honored first. Officers of the MWA were installed, remarks given, and Adams' orchestra provided dancing music into the night. Oyster supper followed. Also noted was the death of Mrs. Lovise Keyba of Marathon City with funeral at St John’s Catholic Church.

Attorney Louis Bohmrich of Milwaukee, now with Bohmrich Maher in Germena Building, spoke in town during the campaign. Spencer residents filed to incorporate their town, a petition granted by Marathon County Circuit Court, with an election planned for February.
