Home from Western Trip Hinmans visit Utah and Mormon power

Mr and Mrs W G Hinman spent two months in Layton Utah with Dr and Mrs Clifford Heath returning last Friday. Hinman notes rise of Mormon influence in government landholding and business while praising western climate and scenery. He observes polygamy still exists in limited form and Joseph Smith as a dominant church figure, yet overall content to leave Utah to Mormons and return to Marshfield.

Change in Court Terms Proposed in Seventh Circuit

The legislature may change circuit court terms with Gates and Circuit Judge Park giving sanction. Portage counties would hold on the first Mondays in May and December, Waushara on the third Mondays in April and September, and Wood on the second Mondays in March and October. Assemblyman Conway weighing October timing, seeks county sentiment before acting.

Mrs Horn Undergoes Mayo Clinic Operation

Mrs Henry Horn of Loyal, a Marshfield social leader, traveled to Rochester Minnesota last week for a major Mayo Clinic operation. The procedure was performed Saturday and described as very successful with encouraging surgeon reports. If recovery remains complication free, she is expected to recover rapidly.

Strong staff for the Tiger 1913 Tiger year editorial team

Mayme Brown and James Christensen Weds in Quiet City Ceremony

Miss Mayme E Brown and James S Christensen were married Saturday evening at the Adler flat building by Rev A J Coram with Miss Bessie Christensen and Elmer G L Jones as attendants. The couple will reside with James Christensen Sr. Afterward they attended a basketball game in which the groom played. Both are well known in Athens with Christensen active in athletics and military company IA.

Marshfield Cemetery Board reports progress and self support

The Marshfield City Cemetery Board filed a report with the city Clerk on Tuesday, noting strong progress under the current management and a self supporting operation despite major improvements and start up costs. It shows a balance of 224.83 on hand against 280 advanced by the council, with detailed receipts and disbursements for May 1912 to January 31, 1913.

Marshfield Seeks Public Market For City Trade

Marshfield aims to establish a public market to display farmer produce for city purchasers. Early efforts fell through as the square was resold, but conditions now push Marshfield to provide a market to maintain its status as Central Wisconsin’s premier trading point.
