Helping Hand Extends Christmas Aid To 35 Deserving Families

The Helping Hand society delivered 35 Christmas baskets averaging about two dollars each, containing a bounteous dinner and provisions for days to come. Donations from city residents supported the effort, with additional baskets from the United Commercial Tragglers and the KLC. More baskets were sent this year than ever, reflecting greater need for food and clothing. The society welcomes further donations of food and clothing.

Incendiary sought by irate farmer near Weber's corners

Albert Stoeck of Bakerville reports an incendiary set fire to his hay on three occasions along the road to Weber's corners. The arsonist fled twice and returned a third time to torch bales, rack and water. The farmer urges that the culprit be found and punished.

Alumni Banquet Toasts Alma Mater in 1914 Evening

Marshfield High School alumni held a 1914 banquet at the Presbyterian church parlors with 111 attendees. Toastmaster Edward Witt opened, Dr. James Vedder recalled “Them was the Hayny Days,” followed by songs and talks from alumni including Miss Alice Burns and Dr. Walter Sexton. Officers elected for two years were President Walter Sexton, Vice-president Wayne Deming, Secretary Emmagene Hayward, and Treasurer Joseph Pinion. A dance concluded the evening as graduates planned for 1915.

Fehrenbach Buys Harwell Dairy Route From Twinland

Carl Fehrenbach, promoter of the Clover dairy, completed a Monday deed to buy the milk route of T. Marvell, formerly the Kiefer property known as Twinland dairy. The transfer takes effect Thursday with both routes operated from Clover dairy. Henry Duelman will run the new route for Fehrenbach. He pledges top service, value, and low prices.

Bartholomew Hurt Starting Day's Work

Bartholomew, a Marshfield resident and veteran Northwestern conductor, was seriously injured when a truck struck him as he tried to board his train leaving Janesville for Fond du Lac and Marshfield. His left leg was severed below the knee and his right side bruised. he was taken to Janesville hospital. Mrs Bartholomew and daughter Alvin traveled from Marshfield. He previously led work trains on the Prison years and recently moved to the Janesville run replacing Neil Mahoney on trains between Janesville Fond du Lac and Marshfield.

Three Moravia comrades among Austria war dead

Lindsey farmer John Rychnowsky reported from Moravia that three former townsmen, comrades in the Austrian army, are listed among the war dead in an official Austrian notice. He said the four men served together three years and were later moved to the reserve.
