Prospective Nominees Set for Sheriff and Superintendent

The Republican county convention will nominate candidates for six county offices with the contest focused on Sheriff and County Superintendent of Schools. Incumbents and top leaders Cady Renne Searls Upham Podawiltz Brazeau are regarded as certain nominees, while the Sheriff and Superintendent race remains highly competitive among Johnny Jbe Lester Smith Len Faleh Morris and others. The county party aims for unity despite prior factional strife and expects strong support for a 1904 national contest. Dr Adelbert M Corbett suffered a severe stroke but is expected to recover.

Science Aids Farmers Preventing Oat Smut With Formaldehyde

Wisconsin Agricultural Experiment Station reports a 40 percent formaldehyde solution treatment for oats to prevent smut. The method requires layering and wetting seed, brief exposure, and drying. treated seed shows no smut whereas untreated plots suffer 5 to 15 percent yield losses. Field results from Gret tinger, Petrick, and Hume farms support widespread farmer endorsement.

Hotel Blodgett Undergoes Interior Renovation

Interior work at Hotel Blodgett includes painting and re papering all sleeping rooms and halls. Cole and Lupisat handle the decorating with attractive paper and matching trim. Office floors will be tiled, bathrooms moved to a rear room, and the barber shop updated with a tile floor and a central wash dish. A new chair will be added and the shop expanded.

Camp Meeting In Session At Saenger Park

The Christian Crusaders camp meeting at Saenger park has been hampered by cold weather keeping attendance low in week one. A large band of workers is active and promoters urge advancement of Christian interests. Meetings continue for two weeks.
