Tragedy Near Medford: Woman Shot After Barn Fire
Mrs H Mathias, 58, of Medford, dressed in men's clothes, was shot and killed last Tuesday while fleeing from Mr Hibbard's barn after setting it on fire. Daniel Murphy, 35, a neighbor hired to watch the barn due to prior fires, fired the fatal shot and was released after the coroner's inquest. Her husband remains in custody pending further inquiry into the arsons.
