Word reached the city of the sudden death of Mrs Ellis A Merrill at Stevens Point at 7 am. Bertha Rae Merrill, 22, daughter of jeweler B Elvis, was born and raised here. She married Ellis A Merrill three years ago and moved to Stevens Point, where he works for Cove Furniture Co. A baby boy was born eighteen months ago, and both husband and child survive. Her remains will be brought here at 10 40 am and funeral services set for 11 am at the Presbyterian church.
Neillsville suffered a 15 to 3 loss at Wausau last Sunday. Troeh pitched six innings, Helixson two. Marshfield totaled ten hits led by Quinn 2 Helixson 2 Whitney 2 Schmirler 1 Senbert 2 and Delap 1. Next Sunday Neillsville hosts Neillsville in the season’s anticipated game with expected large local attendance.

Hans Bille secured the exterior and interior wood work, keeping most finishing tasks local. Wright and Bille met the Rib Lake school board on Tuesday to finalize the deal.
A new southward road through Richfield, linking a large settlement north of Pittsville with Marshfield, is completed under Chairman William Burhope. City businessmen funded it by subscription, anticipating great business value and new territory for Marshfield.

At Tuesday's common council meeting Mayor Hoffman appointed Alderman W H Kamps to replace G H Reynolds on the water and light commission. Kamps, a long serving council member and former president, is noted for public spirit and executive ability. The council also approved disbursements totaling 314 000 due to bond interest and improvements.
The Wisconsin pension office reports 50,396 total pensions with disbursements of 7,117,747.46 dollars. C L Peterson longtime Milladore resident and Festmaster died suddenly at his home from heart disease. He was one of Milladore’s oldest residents and served as a section foreman on the Wisconsin Central since the line’s construction.

Mark H. Barnum veteran newspaperman and lawyer died at his daughter Mrs 4 W Gearhart’s home in Wausau after a brief illness. Born Syracuse 1834 he moved to Wisconsin 1855, practiced law then became editor of the Wisconsin River Pilot at Wausau. He founded the Torch of Liberty at Wausau, later the Wausau Record, retired to a Lake Shisheboramng homestead, backed Rose Zoldoske’s case, survived by wife and six children. Funeral held in Wausau Tuesday. Also noted Annie Fern Lees Sweet Pea Birthday Party with twelve little friends and pink white decor.
At a Monday evening meeting in the band hall the Second Regiment band elected officers for the coming year. Fred Kohl was named president with Chas A Tripp as vice president Frank J Mettelka became secretary E F Mechler treasurer and Prof F L Bliss appointed business manager.
