A farmhouse on the Martin Dresbach place south of the Weber corner in Livola burned Saturday morning. Mrs. Moth and helpers burned debris when wind spread flames to the house. Neighbors formed a bucket brigade. Marshfield and local crews fought the fire, saving the large barn and shed. Insurance of 10 was carried on the property.

Mrs. David House of Curtiss died at the hospital Monday evening at age 44. The body was taken to Curtiss Tuesday for funeral services likely Wednesday. She is survived by her husband and two children.

George Brandl died of inflammatory rheumatism at a city hospital. Aged 38, he leaves three children and his wife, who died about a year earlier. A Catholic Knights of Wisconsin member and charter member of the Owlery, he will be buried in Auburndale with funeral services at 9:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. Fr. Schumacher.

A Grand Rapids court disposed of State vs. Thomas L. Smyzer, charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm and wielding a deadly weapon after he fired at B J Lewis in a taxi. The jury found him guilty of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and assault with a deadly weapon. a new trial motion was pending. The case arose from an incident February 17 involving Smyzer in Mrs. Lewis’s taxi.
Reigel and Witt passed their examinations for higher command in the Wisconsin National Guard. Captain Frank B. Reigel becomes captain and first lieutenant Witt as first lieutenant after promotions confirmed by Captain Westcott. Commissions dated April 12 will be issued soon. Former Captain L. H. Schoenhofen named custodian of armory and band property.
A contract was let yesterday for Marshfield's fourth motion picture house. Krasin Bros. won the remodel of the old Kliner store into an up to date theater double the present size. An eighty foot rear addition will create 160 by 30 feet two stories high with brick walls and concrete steel interior. The audience room will be 180 feet long and twenty feet high with seating for 543.
Viola Philippi daughter of Mr J and Mrs Peter Philippi of Athens died in this city hospital Friday from appendicitis. She had attended school until illness. Funeral held Monday at Athens.
