Wreck on the Omaha Sunday prompts late passenger relief
A Minneapolis to Milwaukee through passenger train No. 18 was minutes late last Sunday, allowing an extra westbound freight to reach Cedarhurst first and strike a burned bridge. The freight, with four locomotives and two cabooses, derailed, but the crew escaped with only minor injuries. The limited train stopped at Cedarhurst, then continued to Milwaukee after rescue crews cleared the line.

Importance of tree planting in city streets
The common council amended the shade tree ordinance, making planting on most residence streets compulsory. New Sisters Residence to Rise at St. John's Church
Ground has been broken for a commodious 40 by 52 foot brick Sisters Residence at St. John's church. Contractor Thomas Wright won the building contract with John J. Mettelka for plumbing and heating. The two and a half story structure on the church block will cost about 12,000 and aims for occupancy by September to house nine current teachers with two more to join the staff.

City to Sprinkle Central Avenue In Sprinkling Request
At the last meeting the rews men council granted petitions from owners representing more than half the abutting properties on Central avenue between Sth street and the Northwestern depot and between the Central depot and the Northwestern crossing. The city will provide sprinkling from the northern crossing of the N W road near the brewery to the Omaha and Northwestern station on the south. Work may be done by city teams or let to the lowest bidder as the council decides.
