On a Tuesday morning a man named Zachariah Osborn visited the J M Eagleton boarding house and ate breakfast without paying. He left claiming to work for Walter in the Delos yards, later meeting James Kelley, then fired four shots at Kelley, three hitting him and one fatally in the breast before Osborn fled. Kelley, a brick yard worker known as industrious, died shortly after.
A witness recounts a tale of a king snake and rattler duel on a rural road. The king snake silently stalks the rattler, coils around its neck, then the rattler dies choking as the king consumes it and vanishes into a hole, with seven witnesses ready to prove the claim.
