Terrible Vigilance Committee Paralyzes New Albany Jail
An early morning mob of 75 to 125 Vigilance Committee members from Seymour overran Floyd county jail in New Albany Indiana. They captured guards disabled Sheriff Fulllenlove, hung Simeon Reno Charles Anderson Frank Reno and William Reno, then fled by train with ropes and keys, after seizing the jail and escaping in minutes. The four victims were killed in the jail and a coroner’s inquest awaits.
