Strathmore Shipwreck Survivors on Desolate Crozet Island

An 1875 Strathmore voyage ended in wreck near the Crozet Islands. Fifty sailed of which forty-nine perished. the few survivors endured nearly 100 days on a barren rock before a New Bedford ship, the Young Phoenix, rescued them. The captain of the Strathmore perished in the wreck.
