Karen Pennell and Gary Schnittgrund wed at Memorial Christian Church Marshall on August 21 in an all white ceremony with organist Bernelice Browman and vows by Rev Harold Merritt. The couple, daughters and sons of local families, plan to live in Champaign while both attend the University of Illinois.

City Council Meeting Minutes Acknowledges Finances and Infrastructure

The City Council met Monday evening September 8 with all members present. The treasurer report and August police activity were reviewed. A $25,000 investment from the electric fund was approved for ninety days. A sewer tap for John Stags’ property was authorized to meet city specs. Adjournment followed at 9:30.

Marshall Woman's Club Opens 1969 70 Year With Smorgasbord

The Marshall Woman's Club held its first meeting of the 1969-70 year at Colonial Kitchen. Seventy two members and guests enjoyed a Smorgasbord luncheon before a business session led by president Mrs. Raymond Buechler followed by a musical program by three high school students.

Lions Club Meeting Discusses Illinois Constitutional Convention

The Marshall Lions Club met on Wednesday September 8 with J L Ford discussing the Illinois Constitutional Convention and stressed its importance for statehood. The club plans a September 17 meeting featuring Charles Cargal and will mark its 25th anniversary on October 1 honoring eight charter members.

Air Conditioning Underway at Marshall Post Office

Workmen have been busy on the Marshall Post Office the past week installing a new air conditioning system. The labor is underway and the job is expected to be finished soon.

Deaths in Illinois and Indiana mark season of grief

Myrtle Nellie Hammond age 79 of Charleston Illinois died after months of illness in Charleston. She was born October 4 1889 in Champaign County daughter of J B Massey and Emma C Massey married 1905 to Roy C Hammond with two children Glenn R Hammond and Beulah C Strader. Survived by four grandchildren fourteen great grandchildren sister Grace Cook and brother Raymond Massey. John Forbeck age 59 of Marshall died September 4 in Indianapolis son of John and Mrs Wes nitzer Forbeck. He worked as a painter and was WW II veteran. Survived by widow Mary mother Mrs Mary Forbeck four sisters four brothers and several nieces and nephews. Requiem Mass at St Mars Church and burial at St Marys Cemetery with American Legion Post 0 military honors.

Auxiliary Meeting at Legion Post 90 Seeks Support

The American Legion Post 90 in Clark County will hold a meeting on Tuesday September 16 at 8 09 pm at the Legion Home. Mitchell-Drudge Wedding at Marshall First United Methodist

Mary Mitchell and Michael Drudge wed at the First United Methodist Church in Marshall with a reception at the Mitchell home. Johnston to Speak at Mental Health Meeting in September

John Johnston Jr. will be the speaker at the September Clark County Mental Health Association meeting. The event is Tuesday September 23 at the Marshall American Legion Building in Span. He is a local graduate, has a social work degree from Missouri University, served in the army, worked as a psychiatric technician at the Douglas Singer Zone Center and currently at the Mental Health Center in Springfield. The public is invited.
