Marshall township high school opened with record enrollment over 300 pupils including 110 freshmen. Six classes lacked a teacher until a new instructor joined. Extra sessions were added in several subjects. Kathryn Smith from Covington joins the faculty as a mathematics and science specialist. Superintendent Colbert says classes are organized though settling into routines will take time.

Oliver resident hurt in automobile accident
Luther Maloney aged 22 of Oliver was injured Wednesday night when his Ford coupe was struck by a Studebaker driven by three men from St Louis en route to Chicago. He suffered severe cuts and scrapes while recovering. Dr L J Weir attended him. The crash occurred near the William Moore garage on the Chicago highway in Oliver.

Lightning strikes radio wires at Bert Hogue home
During a Monday storm lightning traveled along the wiring to the radio in Bert Hogue’s house. Hogue believed grounding would prevent harm but the event showed otherwise. The radio was not connected and was under repair, so no damage occurred.

Young Evansville Man Steals Bicycle in Marshall
Charles Buchanan a 23 year old from Evansville stole a new bicycle valued at 45 dollars from Como Murphy's son in the north side school yard Monday. Traced from Taylorville to Terre Haute, he attempted to sell it at a local store and was jailed in Marshall for further developments.

Frank Hollingsworth pleaded guilty in county court to possessing intoxicating liquor and was fined 100 dollars and costs, which he paid and was released. Thomas Broughton pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and was fined 50 dollars and costs. T. B. Four Arrested on Liquor Transport Charge in Terre Haute
