Negro Labor Turns Over 35 Percent in Chicago Study

Washington reports a Department of Labor study on Negro industrial workers in Chicago showing an annual turnover of 30 to 35 percent. A Negro commissioner of conciliation attributes the turnover largely to wartime termination, with some fault blamed on the workers themselves. The piece notes turnover is costly, reduces efficiency, and requires joint efforts to stabilize personnel and production with fair wages and mutual employer employee protection.
