The Clark County Board of Supervisors held an October session with all members present. They approved September minutes, allowed a horse trough installation by the Historical Society, debated a deputy and secretary raise, adopted a contract award, approved an audit, and continued the meeting to November 6 at 9 a.m.
The Fidelis Class of the Baptist Church met October 17 at 7 30 with officers elected. Rosalie Ryan read last minutes as Ardith Perry led devotions on The Keys. Fay Simpson led the blessing, Kate Hewitt served refreshments.
The American Heart Association will hold its Scientific Sessions from October 20 to 22 at San Francisco Civic Auditorium. More than 6 000 physicians scientists and lay leaders will attend as 307 original papers on cardiovascular progress are presented. An Illinois delegation will participate.
Rev. Gilbert B. Wood officiated vows of Phyllis Yvonne Morton and Jack Wayne Pancake on Saturday September 380 at Marshall Baptist Church. Matron of honor was Ramona Reed, sister of the bride, with Wayne Wood as best man. The couple will reside at 1108 Ash Street, Marshall.
The board approved paying contractors 90 percent of funds due and withheld 10 percent until final acceptance on October 26 for the new elementary school. Transportation reports show 1034 of about 1800 students are bused, while facilities updates include completed seedings and a binder coat of blacktop for playgrounds and parking.

Thirty years ago in 1937, Barbara Ann Eng lish was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert English of Granite City. Robert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. English of Marshall. October 10 saw Lorene Snyder and Lloyd Dee Pearce wed at Princeton Indiana. Irma Shaffer of Marshall and Charles Woody of Indianapolis married in Terre Haute. Lester McCrary of West Union suffered a work accident last week when his right hand was mangled in a corn picker, resulting in the loss of the first finger.
Twenty Years Ago report notes Mrs. Jake Miller and children Janice and Larry staying with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cash in St. Louis from Wednesday to Sunday. Mrs. George E. Irwin and children Patricia and Stephen from Evanston visited her sisters and Will Imle. Jerome H. Millhouse attended the Seabees 6th Battalion convention at the Mark Thain Hotel in St. Louis with Sylvia Nash, David Nash, and Kenneth Cline.
Ten years ago in 1957 Mr and Mrs Harry Findley visited Flora for time with their son Dean and family then went to Marion to see Mr and Mrs Fred Shoemaker Samuel H Sheets age 76 of West Union died Wednesday morning at Union Hospital Terre Haute He was a retired mail carrier.

Alonzo Hobson of Marshall delivered a home grown Trish potato he raised this year to the Herald Office on Monday morning. The tuber reportedly tips the scales at 214 pounds and is identified as a Pontiac variety.
Marshall Junior and Senior High School honors the junior high team for winning the Illinois State Championship on October 14 in Normal. The Rams defeated Farmington 9 to 5 and Grand Ridge 13 to 11 after earlier district and sectional wins, with Larry Bailey and Paul Robinson directing the squad.
The eighty member Marshall marching band led by Drum Major Lynn Macke traveled to Terre Haute to take part in Indiana State University homecoming activities. Feature twirler Marge Richardson, winner of the Illinois governors trophy, led the group with the Marshalettes and band Majorettes in a Wabash Avenue parade.
Mr and Mrs Ernest Wallace of Martinsville marked their 50th anniversary at home with a Friday celebration. Attendees included daughter Mabel Harner of Kansas Illinois and son Leroy Wallace with grandson Glen, plus neighbors and relatives from Martinsville Scottland Illinois Marshall and Marshall area.

The Marshall High School Alumni Banquet will be held in the high school cafeteria on Wednesday Nov 22 1967 with dinner at 6 30. Alumni classes meet before the dinner and Buryl Engleman will speak. Engleman previously taught at Marshall Township High School in 1926 27 and has held editorial positions in Decatur and Charleston.
Mrs. Mary Carpenter of West Union Route 2 Choctaw vicinity marks her 91st birthday on October 31. She has seven children 40 grandchildren 112 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren. Granddaughter Gladys Garver of Marshall invites cards from relatives and friends.
