Union York water system begins operation serving rural district
West Union and West York rural communities opened their own water system on October 1 serving about 170 families and 87 other users including four churches and one school. The project used a $205,000 Farmers Home Administration loan repaid over 40 years and features a drilled well, a treatment plant, a 50 000 gallon storage tank, and 12 miles of 4 inch mains.

Ten years ago in 1955 Mr and Mrs William Buehler of southeast of Marshall received a telegram from their son W F reporting landing in San Francisco and expect home within six days. He was tortured by Japanese and held prisoner at Wake Island during the attack on the United States.
