An Odd Naming Tale From Tourgee and Pardee
An 19th century anecdote recounts how Judge Albion W Tourgee chose Theron Pardee for a leading character after discovering the name in an old Union College curriculum. He was surprised to learn a real Theron Pardee existed, but explained the choice came from a long search for a fitting name, inspired by the curriculum dated around 1825.
